Kirsten grew up as a third culture kid, having spent much of her childhood adapting to the various cultures her parents plopped her into while attending a series of international schools in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, England, Singapore and Thailand as well as a stint being home schooled on an island in the South Pacific (want to read her dissertation on sandcastle integrity?)  She used to get in trouble all the time for tapping her mother's marker supply and drawing on any surface available.  She holds a BFA with honors in illustration from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and occasionally gets to flex her creative muscle through a variety of design and illustration projects.  She spends her days alternating between working at a magazine and hunkering down in her studio on sunny (or ideally thundery) afternoons.
