Twenty-Seven

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 27, an age I had never forseen - though I had been calling myself 27 for quite a few months. The weather was extremely foggy. All of the orange and yellow trees were misty outlines until you came right up on them in the car. It didn't really rain, it was just the perfect cool, atmospheric fall day which makes you want to walk around outside with your hands in your coat pockets. I bought a brighter-than-bright chinese red sweater to combat the dullness. Today I bought two dozen light pink roses for $8 at a local farmers market, another small celebration for my advancing years. Below is a recent art piece, a self portrait of sorts...though more of a cartoon.
